Last night the British Prime Minster announced that England will be placed under another national lock-down. The lock-down is similar to the one imposed last March with people asked to stay at home except for food shopping, medical reasons and exercise. Needless to say, from now until the end of this lockdown it will not be possible to operate tours.
The announcement was not a surprise for many of us here in England. The lock-down is expected to last until critical groups, those who are most at risk from the virus, have been vaccinated. Once this has been achieved restrictions are expected to be relaxed again. There is no fixed date for this but the Government has suggested mid to end February.
On a positive note, another vaccine has been approved for use in the UK and is already being deployed. This new vaccine developed by Oxford University/AstraZeneca is much easier to distribute than the Pfizer vaccine which the UK started using at the end of 2020. With the use of these vaccines it is hoped that the country will be able to return to some form of normality.
During the lock-down Bath Insider Tours will remain open for enquiries and future bookings and I will continue to keep you posted on changes which impact tourism in the region. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch. In the meantime, take care and keep positive. The gates may have been closed for now but don't worry they will open again :)
