Visiting Bath this July?

Bath carnival

If you are heading to Bath this July there are plenty of things happening in the city. Here are a few ideas you may like to think about:

Bath Carnival - Saturday 13th July

This Saturday marks the annual Bath Carnival. There is a free event between 10am and 10pm (known as "Party in the Park") with live bands, DJs, food and drink which takes place in Sydney Gardens (the park behind the Holburne Museum - also now known as Lady Danbury's house!) If you are in the centre of Bath between 3pm and 5:30pm look out for the parade through the city centre with costumed dancers, drumming bands and giant puppets. Local schools and community groups are also taking part in the parade.

Bath on the Beach (runs until 11th August)

A little fun oasis tucked away in Bath's Royal Victoria Park. An outdoor bar with beach games and food. They are showing the Euro 2024 games on a big screen! (No children are permitted during the football games). Open every day until 11th August, 10am to 10.30pm. Free entry. For more information please visit their website: https://www.bathonthebeach.co.uk/

Garden Theatre (runs until 21st July)

Outdoor theatre taking place in the garden behind the Holburne Museum. Runs from 10th July to the 21st July. Shows include Shakespeare, Peter Pan, Sherlock Holmes. For tickets and more information please check out their website: https://www.gardentheatrefest.co.uk/

Roman Baths - Summer Late Nights (runs until 31st August)

Between 20th July and 31st August Bath's most famous attraction will be opening late with last entry at 9pm. If you are staying in Bath during this time a visit in the evening is a great way to avoid the big crowds that typically occur during the day when the big tour buses from London descend on the museum. You will also benefit from a pop-up bar by the Great Bath! For more information please check out their website: https://www.romanbaths.co.uk/event/summer-lates-roman-baths

If you are in England this Sunday (14th July) please expect bars to be crowded and noisy! England has made it through to the Euro 2024 Football Final! The mens team has only won one football tournament and that was back in 1966 so it is a big deal for many people! On the radio this morning people were discussing about whether they should miss wedding receptions to watch it! Please keep your fingers crossed for the team - we are playing Spain at 8pm UK time!

One last tip - if you are staying in Bath don't forget it is a good idea to make dinner reservations in advance, particularly on the weekend. For suggestions on restaurants please check out my previous blog post here.

I hope you find the above information useful. Have a great time in the city!
